The Environmental Unit is responsible for supervision and regulatory tasks according to the Environmental Code with subsequent legislation and food legislation.

The Environmental Unit consists of a manager, an assistant, and 11 environmental and health protection inspectors. The unit is divided into three work teams, each with a main responsible person within their respective area (environmental protection, health protection, and food). As one of our employees in environmental protection is retiring, we are now looking for an experienced environmental and health protection inspector.

Qualifications

To succeed in the role of environmental and health protection inspector, we see that you have:

• A university/college education as an environmental and health protection inspector or other education deemed equivalent by the employer.
• A valid driver's license (B).
• Very good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.
• Good computer skills.

We consider it a merit if you as an environmental and health protection inspector also have:

• Several years of work experience in the field.
• Knowledge and experience in chemical supervision.
• Previous experience in supervisory work under the Environmental Code in a public sector.

To thrive in the role of environmental and health protection inspector, we see that you as a person have a sense of service and the ability to create and maintain good relationships with others, as you will have many points of contact. Therefore, collaboration is important, and you must be able to handle situations calmly and rationally. At the same time, you are used to working independently and can plan, prioritize, and organize your tasks. You need to have good analytical skills and handle information in a factual and correct manner.

Responsibilities

In the role of environmental and health protection inspector, you will be responsible for:

• Conducting supervision of environmental protection facilities and other activities according to the Environmental Code.
• Having many contacts with citizens and businesses in the municipality and collaborating with the Värmland-Örebro network.
• Ensuring that supervision is characterized by high service and good quality, as well as a good approach, without compromising the regulatory role, which sometimes involves making tough decisions in complicated cases. We work in the case management system Ecos.
